Mogami Town in Yamagata Prefecture and Osaki City, Tome City, and Minamisanriku Town in Miyagi Prefecture together cover a broad area stretching from the north-east of Yamagata Prefecture to the north of Miyagi Prefecture. They each possess rich and varied local resources, and interaction between these settlements has flourished since ancient times.
This project takes the view that Minamisanriku Town, which suffered widespread damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake, and Mogami Town, Osaki City, and Tome City, which became secondary evacuation destinations for those affected by the disaster, form a single unit; and that the history, natural environment, industries, people, and other local resources are extremely valuable assets. The project aims to deepen collaboration between the municipalities and to revitalize the local area through tourism.
We sincerely hope that you and many others will visit this area and experience the wide variety of local treasures for yourselves.
We look forward to your visit.
